How to Install Microsoft Edge Browser Beta/Dev/Stable version on Ubuntu 22.04

Microsoft Edge is a web browser developed by Microsoft and is the default browser in Windows 10. Here explain some steps how to install Microsoft Edge Browser on Ubuntu 22.04 OS. It is designed to replace the older Internet Explorer browser and is available on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Edge is built on the same core as Google Chrome browser, using the open-source Chromium project.

1- How to Install Microsoft Edge Beta version from Graphical?

Installing Microsoft Edge from graphical user interface is very simple. As Microsoft provide official installer packages for Ubuntu and Fedora-based distros. You can download installation package as required OS distros. use these builds to install the browser on your system using your distribution’s package manager.

  • Open your web browser and navigate to the Microsoft Edge download page for Linux:

Step -1 Update Ubuntu Packages

First of all we will update the Ubuntu packages with following commands

Sudo apt update

Sudo apt upgrade

Step 2: Install essential packages

we will install the required packages for the installation of Microsoft Edge Browser with the help of the following command:

$ sudo apt install software-properties-common apt-transport-https wget ca-certificates gnupg2 ubuntu-keyring -yd7dee1

Step 3: Import GPG Key

we will import the GPG key that supports the required file or repository transmission from the third party. To do so, execute the below-mentioned command:

$ curl https://packages.microsoft.com/keys/microsoft.asc | gpg –dearmor > microsoft.gpg

$ sudo install -o root -g root -m 644 microsoft.gpg /usr/share/keyrings/

Step 4: Import Microsoft Edge Browser official repository

Then, import Microsoft Edge Browser’s official repository by utilizing the provided command:

sudo sh -c ‘echo “deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/microsoft.gpg] https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge stable main” > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/microsoft-edge-beta.list’t’
